Understanding Your CRS Score
The Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) is a points-based system used by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) to rank Express Entry candidates. Your CRS score determines your position in the Express Entry pool and your chances of receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for Canadian permanent residence.
The CRS awards points based on human capital factors (age, education, language ability, work experience), spouse/partner factors, skill transferability, and additional factors like Canadian education, work experience, or provincial nominations. The maximum possible score is 1,200 points.
CRS Score Breakdown
| Category | Maximum Points | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Core Human Capital | 500 points | Age, education, language, Canadian work experience |
| Spouse/Partner | 40 points | Spouse's education, language, work experience |
| Skill Transferability | 100 points | Combinations of education, language, work experience |
| Additional Points | 600 points | Provincial nomination, job offer, Canadian education/siblings |
