Understanding Your CRS Score

The Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) is a points-based system used by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) to rank Express Entry candidates. Your CRS score determines your position in the Express Entry pool and your chances of receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for Canadian permanent residence.

The CRS awards points based on human capital factors (age, education, language ability, work experience), spouse/partner factors, skill transferability, and additional factors like Canadian education, work experience, or provincial nominations. The maximum possible score is 1,200 points.

How to Improve Your CRS Score

Improve Language Scores

Achieving CLB 10 in all four abilities (reading, writing, listening, speaking) can add 50+ points to your score. Consider retaking IELTS or CELPIP.

Get Provincial Nomination

A provincial nomination adds 600 points, virtually guaranteeing an ITA. Research PNP programs in provinces like Ontario, BC, Alberta.

Obtain Job Offer

A valid job offer supported by LMIA adds 50-200 points depending on NOC level. Network with Canadian employers.

Canadian Education

Completing a Canadian degree or diploma adds 15-30 points. Consider studying in Canada to boost your score.
